The association's contribution has changed the school situation in Tibet radically. Through the help of Tibetans, Swedes, Americans and others, the association now schools and houses approximately 13,000 students. Even the libraries have become very popular among both the children and adults.

Books are important, and the libraries present a wide selection of the children’s literature from around the world, including some of Astrid Lindgren's books translated to Chinese.

The Tibetan culture is strongly influenced by Buddhism. You can find Buddhist motifs in almost all trades and all artwork. Daily life is also full of symbols, such as for the pursuit of good deeds, concern for others, compassion, non-violence and respect. The children are naturally brought up to take responsibility for other living creatures.

The Tibetan culture and humanism are related. Children themselves learn and have an ethical attitude towards themselves, as well as their fellow people and the world they live in.
