Swedish-Tibetan School and Cultural Society was formed in Sweden in 1988 and had its first office in a basement in Skärholmen. The initiative was taken by Soenam Jamyangling, a Tibetan in exile, who is the President of the association. The organization grew and moved to a location on Allhelgonagatan in Skanstull, Stockholm.

In 2005, the association received an anonymous donation which made it possible to secure a house in Stureby. The House of Tibet has many visitors, some who visit for a cup of coffee or tea and others who participate in some of the several activities we offer.

Because of all the non-profit efforts, the association has extremely low overhead costs. Only Allan Fotheringham, the Secretary General is employed and who is avialable in the office all week days between 9am and 5pm.

Activities in Tibet are run by Namgyal Jamyangling. Tenzin Dramdu, Treasurer and Pechoe Chokqap, Secretary and main individual responsible for sponsorhship activity, along with Ngerol help Namgyal. The association's sister organizations in the U.S. and France are entirely dependent on volunteer work.
